5G wireless provides a dramatically faster wireless internet technology that can be 20 times faster and 120 times lower latency than 4G. This sets the foundation for IoT technology advancements and support for the development of new high-bandwidth apps. Although it could take years before 5G technology can reach its full potential in the world.

Telstra President Andy Penn has indicated that it plans to join "amongst the world's first" to roll out the 5G network.
What is the difference between 5G and 4G?
One of the factors that have caused a lot of consumers dissatisfaction with 4G networks is congestion at the peak hours. Although 4G networks are able to handle huge amounts of data when compared to their 3G counterparts however, they are not without limitations. The basic concept behind 5G networks is designed to facilitate large-scale device connectivity as well as a connection to the expected increase on the amount of devices connected to Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
The basic idea is that any device particularly those that require continuous connectivity can receive it through 5G networks. To effectively manage hundreds of clients in one cell, major redesigning of the network is needed from all three Australian networks.
Will you pay more for 5G?
Telstra hasn't yet publicly announced its pricing policy for 5G. However, Mr. Penn mentions that the company didn't distinguish prices during the transition from 3G to 4G.
"I think it's unlikely that the actual core connectivity plans will be differentially priced (for 5G)" said the expert. added.
Samsung's 5G phone is priced at north of $2300, so regardless of the cost for connectivity and if you wish to be among the first to adopt then you'll need pay some money.
